Silver Salties is a participation program for older Australians (65+years) at Surf Life Saving Clubs throughout Australia, promoting physical activity, social connections, and involvement in the surf lifesaving community. Adults 18_ are welcome to participate, however adults 65+ are the target audience.

Silver Salties is funded by Sport Australia’s Move it Aus. – Better Ageing Grant, managed by Surf Life Saving Australia, promoted by States and Branches, and delivered by Surf Life Saving Clubs. Silver Salties programs include traditional surf lifesaving activities and popular active recreational pursuits delivered at the park, clubhouse, beach, pool or surf.

The SWRSLSC Silver Salties launched in September 2024 with an impressive number of participants, and membership continues to grow as more locals discover the fun and benefits of the program.

Our sessions include gentle walks, stretching and balance exercises, chair yoga, light water activities, and social catch-ups over coffee at the clubhouse. Classes are run by friendly club volunteers who create a supportive and encouraging environment for everyone — whether you’re a lifelong beachgoer or just discovering the joy of coastal living.

The Silver Salties meet multiple times each week at South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club, and all equipment and guidance are provided. It’s a great way to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, make new friends, and stay active in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Whether you’re a long-time local, new to town, or just looking to stay active with great company, the Silver Salties provide a relaxed way to enjoy our stunning coastline while staying fit and socially connected. No surf lifesaving experience is needed – just a positive attitude and a love for the ocean!
